For the past 30 years, students of all ages and experiences (including countless champions) have come through our different programs. The success of each student is the result of character-building values, hard work, determination, and a belief in ability.
Working toward a long-term goal in martial arts is part of the journey and a process that’s useful in all areas of life. When you have specific goals and targets to focus on, ultimately, you end up where you’d like to be.
As we’re only two weeks into the new year, you still have time to sit down and do some planning and martial arts goal-setting for 2020.
Set Realistic Goals
When you think about what you’d like to achieve this year, are your plans realistic? While you may want to push yourself to become stronger, more competitive, or more fit, make sure that your goals are still attainable. You want to challenge yourself in a way that stretches you beyond your comfort zone but doesn’t push you to a place that’s outside of your reach at this point.
Push Yourself in New Ways
When you participate in an activity like martial arts for several years, you may find that it’s easy to find new ways to push yourself. Or perhaps, you’ve reached a point where you’re struggling with boredom or burnout. The start of a new year is a great time to get inspired to mix things up and try something new. If you’ve wanted to try a different style or class, now is the time to make it happen. Set a goal around adding variety to your martial arts practice and discover how you can challenge yourself in new and different ways.
Stop Putting Things Off
You may have a goal that’s been sitting in the back of your mind for months. It’s also possible that you haven’t done anything about this goal because you’re intimidated by it, or you may not be sure how to get started with tackling the process. Instead of continuing to push your goals into the future, make 2020 the year you do something about them. Recruit some help from your instructor or even another student on creating a plan and figuring out the best approach to achieve your objective.
At Believe MMA in North Plainfield, we believe that anything is possible. To get started on your 2020 martial arts goals, or to learn more about how to get started with one of our programs, contact us today.
